Amazon decided to keep up with the competitors of gaming platforms and entered the cloud gaming market with its unique service. Subscription video games can be played via streaming on any device, regardless of its power. It can be a smartphone, TV, tablet, or computer. At the same time, the operating system is not so important – from the operating system of the set-top box supported by the streaming service, to quite popular operating systems such as Android, Windows or MacOS.
Amazon called the service Luna. There is an option for Americans to apply for early access to the service. All platforms except iOS will receive native cloud gaming applications. Amazon has not released applications for the iPhone and iPad on purpose, since it does not intend to “dance to the tune” of Apple and pay tax for placement in their AppStore. But, on apple devices, you can start the service through the web interface and play like this.
Luna Plus subscription for $ 6 / month will include:
- Resident Evil 7;
- Abzu and others.
Large publishers can acquire separate channels with their games. For example, Ubisoft on its own subscription will give access to:
- Assassins Creed Valhalla;
- Immortals Fenyx Rising;
- Far Cry 6.
By subscription, you can play on two devices. Some Amazon games will be streaming at 4K 60 FPS. You can play the cloud service with any controller for PS4, Xbox One or PC, keyboard and mouse. Also, Amazon introduced its own wireless controller. The latter is equipped with two Wi-Fi antennas, which reduce the delay between pressing the button and the reaction of the “character” in the game.
Streaming via Luna is also possible. Amazon has made integration with Twitch, which is also owned by the company.
